BAMA classmate and friend. Lynn, Alex and Paul is a sad day for us. Herschel was my Tau Beta Pi Brother, and 24/7 gentleman to all. We will always have good memories.
Love to all,
Bob and Nona, Tallahassee

Herschel was truly a fine man and a good friend. Many pleasant memories!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Herschel was an outstanding businessman, Alabama football enthusiast, but most importantly a devoted family man. He was an old fashion southern Christian gentlemen who always displayed wisdom and composure. I had the pleasure to teach and coach his two excellent sons, Alex and Paul at Grissom High School. Herschel and Lynne became good friends for Debbie and I. He will be missed. May the Holy Spirit bring comfort in this time of grief. God Bless the family.

So sorry to hear of Herschel's passing. He was a great person. I always came away from any encounter with him feeling that I was a better person from just being with him. Truly one of the "good guys"!

Our thought and prayers are with you all in this time of grief.

Mr. Matheny gave me my start in business. I could not have asked for a more generous employer. He provided guidance when needed but only when needed. He is truly a memorable man.

Lynne, my heart is sad for you, while I celebrate his home going. I have enjoyed communicating with him the past year. He is greatly admired by so many. Missing him already.
God bless you and your family.

We will greatly miss you. You have been a good friend and role model.

Lynn, so sorry to hear of Hershel’s passing. I always had the upmost respect for him and his accomplishments. May God bless you and your family during this sad time.
