Herschel G Miller
Herschel Miller, beloved husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend, peacefully went to meet his Lord and Savior on May 21, 2024. Herschel was a hard-working man who cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Herschel was born on March 5, 1954, to his father, Marshel Miller, and his mother Claudia Moore, in Houston Texas. Herschel was a faithful member of Berrendo Baptist Church. Formally, Herschel was a 4-H leader as well as Treasurer of The Chaves County Junior Rodeo Association, before retiring from the Maintenance Department with Dexter Consolidated Schools. Herschel loved horses, hunting, and fishing.
Herschel is preceded in death by both his father and mother, Marshel, and Claudia Miller, as well as his brother, Bobby H. Miller.
Herschel lives on in the memory of the love of his life, Janice Miller of Dexter, NM; his Sons Phillip (Brooke) Miller of Plano, TX, Mark Miller of Roswell, NM, and Blake Miller of Ogallala, NE; his brothers Billy H. (Mara) Miller of Houston, TX, and H. Paul Miller of Magnolia, TX; as well as 4 precious grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled for Herschel on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held the following day at LaGrone Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:00am with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Phillip Miller, Mark Miller and Blake Miller as well as Luke Grant, Mort Bates, and Mike Hardwick.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Berry, Bill Glenn, Fred Van Winkle, Bob Wooley, Barrett Miller, Addison Miller, Callahan Miller, Melinda Miller, and Don Boss.
Memorial contributions can be made in Herschel’s honor to the Baptist Children's Home located at 2200 S. Avenue I, in Portales, New Mexico 88130.
