Herschel "Red" Williams Jr.

1942 - 2023

Herschel "Red" Williams, Jr., age 81, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Red was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane Williams Bordelon and sister Mary J. Varga. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Mariana M. Williams; children Scott M. Williams and Kellie Scardino (Sal); nephews George G. Clements, Jr. and John P. Shelton, Jr.; and (late) niece Desiree Shelton. Born August 24, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana, Red graduated from Warren Easton in 1961 and joined the U.S. Air Force thereafter, living for two years in Panama City, Florida, and two years in Germany. He then worked for Shell Oil Company as an Inspector for 30 years. Red loved to travel with his wife both domestically and abroad, and to play baseball, tennis, pickleball, and volleyball with the Sr. Olympics. He had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger, was a friend to many, and will be forever missed. A visitation for Red will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m., and interment thereafter at Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.
