Having studied with Herta in her classes in her home in Lawrence, Kansas, I received more from her than ever at art classes at universities I attended for an art degree. It was 1970 when she welcomed me as an art student into her home for the most inspiring experiences in the art and psychology of art I have ever had. We worked as a group of older women anxious to improve our painting skills and also gain confidence in representing the figure freely and without judgement. Always...

My mother C.Ann Ricker introduced me to Herta when I was a child living in LA during the 1970s. Herta inspired me then and enjoyed going to her home to pick out artwork with my mother numerous times. I still own quite a number of her pieces and am happy Herta's memory will live on in my home with her artwork hanging on the walls. Herta opened my eyes to the wonderful world of abstract and use of mediums.
