Not sure what to say?

Sorry for your loss. Wish I had know him, for we share an interest in the Birmingham Arts Journal.

Chervis and my father, Dan Trotman, were good friends for many years. I remember meeting him a few times and how very kind and authentic he was. I am sorry I was not able to come to the service to celebrate his life. Prayers for his family.

Chervis and I played together as young boys and were classmates through grammar and high school. He was always smiling and fun to be around. He was a good man. His book was great and I also saw and lived through growing up in segregated Birmingham. My deepest sympathy for his family.

Chervis was a great lawyer who became a good friend. We send our condolences to Martha. Jim and Barbara Sampson

Chervis was a dear friend whom we will truly miss. We appreciated his love and care for God´s work in the Middle East. We look forward to the day where we will meet again in eternal glory.

I knew Chervis for most of my professional life in Birmingham but only really got to know him in the past few years as members of the YMBC. Chervis was the first to convince me that I should write a memoir and he gave me valuable feed back when I shared the first draft with him last fall. His love of writing was contagious. Birmingham is a better place because of him.

Our deepest condolences from the Bongiorno family. We have always loved see his smiling face every time he came in.

So sorry for the loss of your loved one, Chervis. Chervis was a mentor to me in law school and a valued friend and confidant after law school. His sage advice guided me upon entering the legal profession. Chervis was one of the kindest and most respected individuals in the legal field and as an individual and human being. They broke the mold when Chervis came into your life, for he would show kindness by his actions, words and deeds. Ron Thrasher

My condolences. We lived two blocks from the Isom family growing up. Many memories as I also "threw" newspapers from Branch 24. He was a good man and will be missed.
