Life Reflections
Mr. Heyward Davis, Sr. was born on June 25, 1945 in Georgetown, South Carolina, a beloved son of Sennie Davis.
His mother, a brother, Isaac Davis, and a sister, Brenda Davis, all preceded him in death.
Heyward received his early education in the public schools of Georgetown County. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in the Sampit Community, where his family worshiped.
For over forty years, Mr. Davis drove professionally as a skilled Commercial Truck Driver.
Being of great work ethic, he was employed with Leo Lambert Logging Company for more than thirty years, until retirement.
On September 18, 1972, Heyward was united in marriage to his loving wife Mrs. Mary Johnson Davis.
He was affectionately known as “Buckwheat” to many. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, family gatherings, and talking.
Mr. Davis was a very outgoing person. He never met a stranger. If anyone needed anything he didn't hesitate to give to you. He was a family man who loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On March 6, 2022, Heyward departed from labor to reward. His memories will be forever cherished by his devoted wife of nearly fifty years, Mary J. Davis; his loving children: sons, Heyward Davis, Jr. , Kevin Davis, Corey Davis, Mack Anthony White; daughters, Jamina Johnson, Sarah Johnson; special grandchildren whom were reared as his own, Latoya Johnson and Cameron Burgess; eleven additional adored grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Rovina Cooper, Vivian Johnson, Debra Stafford (Glen), Frances Johnson; one brother-in-law, Isreal Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special cousin, Jerome Duncan, Sr.
