Not sure what to say?

Ann, hard to believe that it has been 5 years since you lost your beloved husband. I'll be thinking of you today.
A friend asked me recently if I knew who you were.....I said "oh, yes, I love her, and told her that we had worked together all those many years ago. Some people leave a happy spot in our hearts, and you left one in mine, Anne. Love you!!! Trudie Anderson Barron, 1425 Woodcrest Drive, Roswell, Ga. 30075.

I didn't know to sign my earlier post. Anne, I sent the message about wanting you to come to Governor's Honors in Valdosta along with Heyward's gentle "no way." Please remember that you and Heyward are special to Woodward Academy. I retire after 44 years here in 2015. Carolyn Haldeman

Anne- We just read Pat's wonderful eulogy and hadn't yet heard about Heyward's death. Gloria and I want you to know that we send our love and concern and sympathy. Just this week I read another's obituary whose words said it so well: "I will not grieve because he died. I will rejoice because he lived". We do both, don't we?
Love, John and Gloria Barringer

I've encountered many people on my path in life. Some, I knew to step around. Others, I knew to embrace. Heyward was one of the most embracable. He made me laugh, he made me think and he showed me how to do business as a gentleman. He enlightened my path with his wisdom and friendship...and I am forever grateful.

I was so fortunate to work one-on-one with Heyward for four years from 1986-90. I was a young journalist then and he taught me so many things about writing and editing. He was sharp, kind-hearted and had a quick whit. I consider it an honor to have enjoyed his company during those years in Atlanta.

Heyward ~ my mentor, my partner, my friend. We travelled many a mile together, created some great things, discussed many an idea, and also had some great fun. I will miss you terribly. Three Cheers for Old Nassau. ~Ross

Ann, so saddened to hear of the loss of your husband. May you be sustained by all the wonderful memories you have of him. Trudie Anderson Barron, Roswell, Ga.

Condolences to Anne and the family. He was fine man, and we were fortunate to have known him.

Heyward answered the phone once when I wanted to ask you, Anne, if you would speak at Governor's Honors in Valdosta as you had in my classroom. He said, "Carolyn, we spend our summers in Maine, and I can tell you that Anne won't give up the climate in Maine for the heat in Valdosta!" He was so cordial and yet protective of your time. How fortunate that you found each other, so beautifully told in John Chancellor Makes Me Cry.
