Heywood Turner, my friend, my surrogate Father after my Daddy died at an early age, and someone who I knew would always listen and advise from his heart and who would always laugh with me over our shared confidences. I am blessed to have too many stories and good times to share. He knew me since birth and our families were intertwined through our church activities, visiting each other at our homes and at the beach, birthdays with Heywood playing his harmonica, and even a few Holidays when I was older.
What sticks in my heart the most right now is that as I would leave from visiting Daddy' Heywood over the years, but even more recently, he would always say to me, you know we are family, and I know that was true in his heart and certainly in mine.
Rest in peace dear Heywood the luckiest guy who ever walked the face of the earth!

Mr Turner was an amazing father and grandfather. He leaves hehind family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. We are fortunate to be considered close enough friends to attend many Turner family events. We will miss him and his amazing presence, in the future. He was a huge fan of his grandson's baseball careers and was always in the stands. He was so full of pride, as he watched them, that it made us smile. We send our deepest condolences to the Turners and we join them in thanking God for the opportunity to know this wonderful man and to feel his love.

Heywood was my mentor and leader at TECO, my email "Buddy" for the past few years, and my GREAT FRIEND all of the time since I first met him at TECO in 1966. As Christians we believe that: What you ARE is God's gift to YOU; what you DO is your gift to GOD. We were all blessed by the good work, the great achievements, and all of the good deeds that Heywood DID during his exemplary life on Earth. I am grateful for the time I spent with him and for the wisdom that he always conveyed to me. My prayers are with his loving Family and all of his many other loved ones.

I grew up with Heywood's brother Jack. Back then everyone called him "Boots" and He and brother Bob would take Jack and I to Tampa U. where they would play tennis and us younger boys would play on the canon and in the park. Later on, when I lived in Carrollwood, I met him as he was out in his yard. I called out-Boots-He looked at me with a big grin and said he had not been called that in years. We had a great conversation about the old neighborhood (Seminole Heights) and made plans to get together again. What a great time we all had back in those days. A great man, a great life.

Enjoyed visiting Heywood after I read his book that Marynelle loaned me. Peggy,my sister, always enjoyed being with him during alumni meetings at HHS which I was privileged to enjoy with her. It was great to see him this past year and communicate on email afterwards. He will truly be missed by many.

Mr. Turner was the kind of man you never forgot after talking to him. He was from the era of real people with real values and he shared those values in a normal conversation. One of the great mentors of our time here at TECO. I bought a copy of his book after going over my entire TECO history at his request. Mr. Turner was the real deal, he will be missed.

The world could not have lost a more beautiful soul than Heywood Turner. I don't have enough space to list all the adjectives he represented; but, the major ones that quickly come to mind are: gentle, kind, loving, generous, leader, mentor and friend. He was so kind and well-respected and loved by all the Tampa Electric employees who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with the Turner family during this difficult time. He sure will be missed.

The world could not have lost a more beautiful soul than Heywood Turner. He leaves his family and friends - mentors and admirers with such a legacy that it's hard to list all the adjectives he represented. The main ones that come to mind: gentle, most-kind, loving, well-respected, modest, leader, friend! You were a joy to know and love. My thoughts and prayers are with the Turner family. God Bless each of you.

Seriously one of the nicest, most genuine people I've had the pleasure of knowing. First, years ago when he was at teco and most recently at Asten Gardens when I was visiting my mother. Always a pleasure chatting with him. God bless him and his family.

I had the pleasure of serving with Heywood on the Life Enrichment Center Board. After talking with him on our first meeting, I learnt that Heywood was related to my best friends family, the Oberlins. It is a small world but one that will miss this man incredibly. A wonderful man who served his community well. As the Executive Director of Rotary's Camp Florida I reconnected with Heywood through his Rotary club. I know that everyone who met Heywood will be touched by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.

So very sorry for your loss. I met Mr Turner during his times at NuVista for rehab. I always made sure he had the morning paper. He was such a gentle soul who was so very kind to everyone he met. I know he received a "well done good and faithful servant". May God bless your family during this time.

One of things that made Heywood unique was his kindness and his curiosity. His curiosity about everything. Because of that he knew more about everything than anyone I have ever known. He loved airplanes and aviation although not a pilot. My prayers and sincere sympathies to his family. Rest in peace dear friend.

Heywood loved the fact that I continued to call him BOOTS.
He and my husband, Calvin, were friends for many years. Rob was especially a great friend to both of us too.
Our Emails were fun and I will really miss him. Several months ago he mentioned his illness, but I was still surprised at his passing. It was great to have him as a friend for a long time.
May God be with your family at this time.
Many Blessings,
Kathy Faucett

Heywood and I met in 1953 on a Military bus en route to Fort Jackson, SC. We were instantly friends with our Hillsborough High School and Richmond, Va. connection. Heywood liked to sleep late and during basic training I was his alarm clock. Wish I could ring that alarm again. We have remained friends all these years and I cherish all our memories. Farewell my friend.

Our lives on February 17, 2017 was changed forever. We have lost the association of a very dear friend. However, Heywood will never be forgotten. I found him to be very easy to talk to, and I believe he could talk to anyone on virtually any level. Heywood and I swapped emails on a wide variety of subjects. He was a most interesting person, I/we will miss him.

Heywood and Mary were the salt of the earth. We met 50 years ago when we lived in Original Carrollwood and I was coaching Woody and my son John. Also Heywood was my sponsor in transferring from Interbay Rotary to Ybor City Rotary. As the world knows by now Heywood had perfect attendance in Rotary for many many years by a true gentleman. A great and humble family, loved by all. Our deepest and sincere sympathy to the entire family.

Heywood Turner was so easy to be with. Whether you were a Vice President or worked in the phone center, he treated everyone the same. He was always kind to me and stayed connected with retirees throughout the country. TEEBA could always count on him to have information on retirees who had passed. He was a gentle man and will be missed by all who knew him. This old world was a much nicer place with him in it and his absence has left a void. God speed, Heywood.
