Hilail was a genuine thinker and speaker for and beyond all times. One truly liberating teacher, Hilail lived and invited us to live at the heart of all things that matter, without ever foresaking their surface. Hilail's visits to San Francisco were anticipated by all of us who met him through his long friendship with Perri Hale. We knew we would enjoy new restaurants, good wine, lovely trips to the country and lots of lively conversation with a truly cultured man of wit and wide-ranging curiosity. Que en paz descanse
