Not sure what to say?

She was a wonderful teacher. Once , during a spelling test, she saw how many times I erased and spelled a word and she told me "Scott, go with your first instinct. You second guess yourself and its always wrong." That saying has helped more times than I can count. She also taught us life lessons, too. God Bless

"and taught for the next thousand years"

Beautifully written for a beautiful soul.

A very special lady to me. She brought me out of my shy shell. I remember the first day in her class. She told me I was special. My class had started in January so we were promoted to the 5th grade on January 20, 1958. She told the class we had the same birthday. Jan 21. She made sure each student was special for some reason. This woman loved her kids at school, her family and her God. Now she will sing for the Lord in Heaven.I will always remember her. As for you Ginger, all the boys...

I knew Mrs. Hammond at Fairview. Sadly, I don't remember any English classes, but I do remember her very well and fondly for her sharp wit, humor, and her music and art/sculptor classes. A cherished memory is seeing her in Pickens County while I was visiting family there many years ago. Godspeed.

Mrs. Hammond was also my teacher at Fairview in the 70's. She was a great teacher. I remember her singing in class. I saw a picture of her at our 8th grade banquet recently when I was going through some. I will try to find it again and post it!

A sadder [lace without you...Love you very much...

Julie

5th grade teacher at Fairview School. Great person. Loved her art and music, especially Jack the cowboy and Wallace for president spoof. As an educator myself, I appreciate the effort that she took in teaching the basics and challenging thinking.

She was a friend of my mother's (also an educator). On one of my trips back to Birmingham over the years I met Mrs. Hammond again at my mother's home. Oddly, we didn't connect as we might have, given what we had in common. I can't say...

Mrs. Hammond and her band were the "headliners" at all the Fairview PTA Halloween Carnivals when
my sons attended the school. She always made lots of money for the projects we had. Both my sons gained knowledge that helped them the rest of their lives in her "OLD SCHOOL" English class. It was a pleasure knowing and working with her.

SHE WAS A SWEET AND SPECIAL LADY ! SO BLESSED TO MEET HER . I LOVED TO HEAR HER SING AND WHISTLE ! SHE WAS ONE OF A KIND . PRAYING FOR GINGER AND JOHN , NOW, AND IN THE DAYS AHEAD . GOD'S STRENGTH AND PEACE BE WITH YOU .
