Homer Hogues was one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, the decorated group of Black pilots who fought for the United States even as they faced discrimination. He served in World War II and worked as an airplane mechanic for the 99th Fighter Squadron.

We express our sympathies to Hogues family, many, many friends and colleagues for your beloved father Mr. Tom Hornbein. Mr. Homer Hogues was one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, the decorated group of Black pilots who fought for the United States even as they faced discrimination. He served in World War II and worked as an airplane mechanic for the 99th Fighter Squadron. There is no greater pain than that of losing someone you love, especially when it is unexpected. What a legacy, his hard work and dedication was truly an asset to the Tuskegee Airman. Sincere condolences to the Hogues family, may God be with you all as you endure your time of loss.

I did not know Homer personally, but knew of him and the Tuskegee Airmen through documentaries throughout the years, etc. My husband and I revere these men who risked so much for their country. Our sincere thanks to Homer who gave so much, and condolences to his surviving family and friends.
