Rob was a classmate and friend at New Mexico Military Institute and was an honored cadet Officer serving as a recognized leader even then. Our careers saw us both going to Law school and serving in our Presbyterian communities. He was a quiet giant and his life leaves a long positive shadow on all he encountered

With Senator Royce West, then Senator Robert Junell was responsible for funding and the establishment of the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP). As admissions dean at the UTHSCSA medical school (now Long School of Medicine) he stated, "good kids from west Texas are not getting into medical school, and we need doctors". His legacy lives on in many "good kids from West Texas" who are now physicians serving the communities in west Texas.
