Dear Mrs. Funn, I learned of Mr. Funn's passing only yesterday. and am so disconsolate that I cannot imagine the depth of your grief. I was always Mr. Johnson, and he was always Mr. Funn, but those formal tokens of mutual respect were the surface of a deep and abiding friendship that I have treasured for more than 20 years, and it was not nearly long enough. dear evelyn, horace provided a model of a friend, a neighbor and of a kind, gentle constructive human being. he was the mayor of both winder and walker streets if not all of randolph. he will be missed terribly. i will remember his many kindnesses for the rest of my life. when my kids moved to the neighborhood, he looked out for them, helped them out and did all of this with a wonderful sense of humor. depending on what was in my truck, i might be "mr. windsor farms" or "sanford and...
