Not sure what to say?

Horace was my Phi Alpha Delta brother in back of Fred McLendon and my Northwestern law class. The UGA loss was my gain as I gat to observe him preside in Superior as well as U. S. District Court. Horace never complained about the judge who ruled against his admission to UGA. When i saw his NYT obit I realized that he outlived my one summer roommate Fred who accepted the partial law school and railroad pass to come to Northwestern - both taught me vital life lessons.

I met Mr. Ward, Ruth and Teddy when I was 3yo, in ATL. They were neighbors and family. As a toddler, on my own, would visit the Wards, w/o invitation! LoL My parents, Ed and Phyllis Cook, loved them as much, as I did Kimberly Cook Clarke

Eternal Flame

Don't think of him as gone away- his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets- this earth is only one. . .
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears, in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched. . . for nothing loved is ever lost- and he was loved so much.

Senator Horace T. Ward

"I have watched all things; I have endured afflictions. I have done the work of an evangelist, and I have made full proof of my ministry. I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.'' II Timothy 4:5-7

To the Ward-Leflore Family, I extend my deepest and heartfelt sympathy to you. A true foot soldier has crossed the bar and stepped into eternal life.

Georgia State Senator Horace T. Ward

A gentle giant, who walked the difficult path, fought the good fight, placed others where he was not allowed and defended those who were courageous. He respected those who pulled the short stick in life, he never considered his humble beginnings as humble beginnings. He was a man of prominence and position and humility and kindness. He loved his Mother dearly, was faithful in spirit to his wife Ruth long since deceased. He was a loving and understanding Father to his son Ted. He adored Haley....

My prayers are with your family during this difficult time and days ahead.

I became a lawyer in 1976, not too long after Judge ward had become a judge. I had him in several matters in the State Court of Fulton County and the Superior Court. He was know for carefully deliberating over every matter that came before him because he wanted to get it right. He was also known for being a gracious, well mannered, gentlemen to all that appeared before him. His life would serve as a good blueprint for anyone aspiring to be a judge. He served well.
