Hortencio S. Gonzalez ”Mr. Wright” passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
He was 95 years of age and is survived by his children Jose C. (Patricia) Gonzalez, Hortencia (Pablo) Puga, Marivel (Domingo) Reyna, daughter-in-law, Diana G. Gonzalez(+Ramon); His Grandchildren Jose Gabriel, Andres, Diana Marie, Monica Lee, Roberto Jose, Ramon Hortencio, Lorie Lee, Maria Teresa, Pablo III, Linda Marie, Gloria Suehayne, Sonia Marivel, J.C., Hortencio, and Jorge are all from Harlingen. Sister Natalia (Jeronimo) Avila of Edinburg, TX. and 29 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Teresa; son, Ramon Andres; his parents Cresencio and Ramona Gonzalez, and siblings Estefana, Celia, Georgina, Lidia, Virginia, Fidencio, Antonio, Jesus, and Raul Gonzalez,
Hortencio was born in Garza Gonzalez, Los Ramones Nuevo Leon on December 23, 1928. In 1955 he married Maria Teresa Salinas in Rio Bravo Tamaulipas. They moved to Harlingen, TX. and raised four children, Hortencio worked for Hygeia Dairy in the Milk Plant for 25 years, then retired and together with his wife fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening their own business, Wrights Cleaners in 1985 in Pharr, TX. In 1994 they moved their business to Harlingen where it still runs successfully today. In the early 2000’s with his guidance, his children opened two successful locations in Mercedes and Los Fresnos, TX.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jose Gabriel Gonzalez, Andres Gonzalez, Robert Jose Gonzalez, Ramon Hortencio Gonzalez, Lorie Lee Puga, Pablo Puga III, Jose Cresencio Gonzalez Jr. Hortencio S. Gonzalez, Jorge Augustine Gonzalez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jose Cresencio Gonzalez, Pablo Puga Jr, and Domingo Reyna Jr.
The Gonzalez family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Angel Wings Hospice. Father Horacio Chavarria for always being his AMIGO and spiritual guidance.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 18, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. with a prayer of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
A funeral procession will depart Trinity Funeral Home Friday, April 19, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harlingen, TX.
Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park La Feria, TX.
