Few enjoyed life so much as Howard Joseph Barnhorst, who found himself in San Diego with the girl of his dreams and a life of pleasure and good fortune beyond what a small-town kid from Kokomo, Indiana, could have ever imagined. Howard was fond of telling anyone who would listen that the...

Bless Mr. Barnhort's family

Norma Zahn

I was privileged to work for Mr. Barnhorst in his tenure at Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek. He was an excellent lawyer, very intelligent, charismatic, had a great sense if humor and loved his family. You are missed and was glad to help you out with many projects, organizing and day to day events surrounding your practice. Blessings and prayers to your family. Norma Zahn

He turned my life from black and white to technicolor. Miss him like crazy. May he rest In peace!

Marnie and family....Your photo choice captures the wonderful Howard so well. Such a life filled with an abundance of love, family and friends. I remember my folks would talk about how close your children were which is a perfect indication of your parenting and love in your home. My heart is with you all at this time and always Marnie.

Dear Marnie,
We just spoke, and I was distressed to learn of Howard's passing, though not totally surprised from everything I had heard recently.
I just told Michelle, and she sends her deepest sympathy.
As we discussed, I know that this has been a very long process and we are thankful that you and Howard are now at last at peace.
I read the beautiful obituary you wrote and it is truly moving. I agree with every word of it and know that the two of you and your...

Dearest Marnie,

We are deeply touched by the departing of Howard. We were all aware that Howard was an enthusiast "fin gourmet", and recently only, we found out that we also know one of his siblings. To all the family, please accept our sincere condolences.

I met Howard at The Perfect Workout on Pearl St about 4 years ago; George knew Howard and Marnie from the restaurant, so we connected all the dots and began a short but lovely friendship, meeting in Sun Valley at the writer's conferences there, and dining at each other's homes. He was such an uplifting soul … we feel blessed to have known him as short as it was. Marnie, we send our warmest condolences to you and your entire family.

We are so very sorry for the loss of Howard, both to his family and our community. Please accept our deepest sympathy, Vince and Marilyn Benstead
