Not sure what to say?

During the three years that "Pappy" Chaplin piloted for Gen. Krulak, I was onboard commo. As a young lieutenant, I enjoyed listening to his stories on those interminable trans-Pacific flights. His expert landings saved my life on an unscheduled flight to Alaska and on a takeoff from Danang. His skill, resourcefulness, and ability to keep his cool will always epitomize for me what a Marine should be. Semper Fi.

My love and sympathy go to Danny, Davie and Susie, and to their dear and wonderful mother Gwennie, my ex-sister-in-law, my "kindred spirit". And to Howard's brother Norm's children, Norm, Jr. Linda and Laura.
I am happy to see our three children, Lisa, Nikki and Hud pay tribute to the military achievements of their father.
Yes, he and Jack Stich were good buds back in Quonset Point. Both gone, and the mold is broken.

My late husband, Jack Stich, flew C-130s with "Pappy" in Antarctica. They shared a "bachelor pad" in the off season here at Quonset Point. They were two of a kind, the likes of which we will not see again.

With deepest sympathy,
