I met Howard as a student teacher for the Waverly district in the fall of 1968. I assisted him with the swimming team that year. Although I was not his student teacher, I was in the room next door and got to know him fairly well. I admired his professionalism as a educator.

Whenever you feel down, remember that God alone is called the “Hearer of prayer,” and he will listen to you with genuine empathy.

It's been a long time since I've heard this name, but it brings back memories. I was a student teacher under Lee Amundsen (chemistry) at Waverly High School in the fall of 1968. I used to be a swimmer while in high school and Howard invited to me to help him with swimming during my brief stay at Waverly. I took him up on his offer as I wanted to coach sports when I became a teacher. I taught for 38 years and coached three different sports. I always remembered what a professional Howard...
