Howard attended the very first class that I taught in 1964 at the Purdue - Indianapolis campus. Being older than the other students (and me), he provided a mentorship. A very real gentleman and an inspiration to all of us. I was impressed with his resolve and fortitude in returning to school after so many years away.
By the way, he never mentioned his war experience to me (how modest). I am in awe.
