Dearest Howard,

I was out of town when the Lord took you and just recently learned that you have joined my dad Nelson Brown on the hill in Noank cemetary. How many times the two of you talked about being neighbors in the cemetary forever.
You were ever faithful in participating in the Memorial Day Parade. In 2012 both you and Nelson will be missing from the ranks, but oh what memories I have of your decades of friendship.

Mr. Davis' hug is one that I will cherish and sorely miss! His affirming arms were there at important thresholds; winning a Seaport Dyer Dow race, my wedding day, and the first time on the pulpit at Noank Baptist Church.The archive of his mind was daunting, and his sharing always a great learning opportunity. I have good memories of Howard working at the Eldridge Boat Yard with my Dad many years long ago. He'd been best man in my parents wedding as well 66 years ago. What a family friend and will be much missed in Noank. My sympathy to his family.

Howard Davis one one of the kindest people I ever met. I was a staff member at Mystic Seaport Museum for 5 years; we made fast friends, and he was a great story teller. My heart goes out to the family. I am richer for having known Howard Davis. The angels are singing in Heaven tonight. RIP, my friend, I hope we shall meet again.

Howard was "Mr Mystic Seaport" in my eyes. He was known by just about everyone who works, or volunteers at the Seaport. His talents, and his willingness to share with others, in shipbuilding were enormous. He was a special kind of person, and will be greatly missed.
