Not sure what to say?

Howard was a wonderful man who always took the time to listen to anyone and everyone. He had great stories to share and was a wonderful person. I am so lucky to have known him and his friends, many of which were former students.

An excellent teacher, wise man, and friend. He is one of the few Professors whom I still remember with fondness and appreciation. He struck all of us in his classes with his knowledge, grace, and insights. We are re truly better for having known him.
May he redt in eternal peace.

Oh Didsey. You space Cowboy. Can't help but remember the kindness you and Jimmy extended to me. Loved your stories and your daughter when I told mine at your secret headquarters in NW Washington. Those were the days. The 80s. You in your white V neck T shirt and pants tucked into your riding boots. That Red AMC Ambassador you would trek to Jersey in. The late night parties at your Victorian and Jimmy picking peaches off the trees in the back yard and putting them into the Champaign glasses....

I had the pleasure of meeting this crazy man during a core requirement history class 101, Spring 1987. I soon realized that this eccentric man wasn't crazy but brilliant, an outside the box thinker. We soon became friends, and he assumed the role of my mentor professor, with Phi Alpha Theta, Omega Alpha chapter. He was also directly responsible for getting me accepted at Yale for my graduate work. We stayed close for many years. I miss having dinner with him, talking, and basically him...

Just learned of Howards passing, he was and will remain forever special in our harts and in our thoughts. Howard touched so many lives, he shared a positive, interesting and often humorous perspective on the human condition as well as history. The spark he ignited in people truly made an impact. Happy travels Howard, I am certain you will continue to make an impact wherever you are, in your own special way, as you have with all whose lives you touched.

Pine Beach, D.Didsbury- see there I finally called you doctor even thou you told us not to call you doctor-and. Yes, I get the great big beautiful picture. The world is better off now because you were here. I have always admired you, and considered you a friend . Although you are in a better place now, I will always cherish your memory. May you rest in in eternal peace. With fond memories and a sense of great loss, your former student, Wesley Szypszak, Class of1968

I remember all the good times and conversations with Howard. He was a remarkable man with a generous and compassionate heart.

Godspeed Howard,
I enjoyed spirited evenings with Howard and BG Robert Castor at my mother's home in Bethesda. I would see Howard at the National Debutant Cotillion and various Templar and Stanislaus chairty events in MD, NY, and NJ. Howard simply seemed to engaged everyone with his wit and brilliance. I will miss... but remember Howard's enthusiasm for life.
Good night dear Knight,
