Howard was one of my father's long-time friends. My father died about 16 months before Howard. I remember an early vacation to Colorado Springs, before Howard was married to Ruth. I was about 5 and I was fascinated by this man who lived by himself and took care of himself. He would get up early and I would hear him and patter around after him asking all sorts of questions. He was kind and gifted.

Howard was part of a pioneer movement to gather pastel artists here in Southern Colorado. He was an encouraging instructor, I learned a lot in his pastel art class. He was a gifted artist and remains in our lives with his many beautiful paintings.
