HOWARD TALL FOX Jr.

FOX, JR., HOWARD TALL, 90, passed away on June 28, 2011, in Orlando. Howard will be remembered as a devoted husband, wonderful father and father-in-law, dear friend, true Southern Gentleman, and faithful servant. Howard was born on September 4, 1920, in
Emporia, Virginia. After attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute, he enlisted in the Army where he served as a Captain until 1946. He was hired as General Manager of the Washington Senators' farm team in Emporia and Orlando. Thus began his nearly 60-year career in baseball. He was soon named Public Relations Director of the Senators and later became their Traveling Secretary. When the Senators moved to Minneapolis in 1960 and became the Minnesota Twins,
Howard continued in his same position there. In the 1970's, he served as Executive VP and in 1985, he was named President of the Twins organization. Following his retirement, he served as Chairman of the Twins' Executive Committee. Howard also loved golf. He belonged to Woodhill Country Club in Wayzata, MN, and the Bay Hill Club in Orlando. He was predeceased by his parents, Erma and Howard T. Fox, Sr. and his sister, Erma Louise Fox Slate. He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; his four sons, Mark (Julie), Peter (Jane), Thomas (Marie), and Kirk (Jane); his twelve grandchildren, Angie, Trevor, Ashley, Kendall, Eric, Wesley, Jenny, Alissa, Taylor, Matt, Nena, and Lisa; and seven great grandchildren. A Memorial Service celebrating Howard's life will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Minnesota in late July. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, FL, or to St. Martin's-By-The-Lake Episcopal Church in Minnetonka Beach, Minnesota.
