Howard was my division chief petty officer when I was CIC officer onboard USS Wilkinson. He was the eptiome of a Navy chief, and was enormously patient with this young inexperienced junior officer. He was beloved by his men, respected by all, and taught me an enormous amount about leadership and the Navy. I will always be enormously grateful for having been Howard's shipmate, and for the chance to connect with him again over 40 years later. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers...

Howard was my fellow shipmate on board the USS Wilkinson. We were both commisioned as Warrant Officers together and both ended up serving on the Uss Saratoga CV-60 at different times as well. He showed me the ropes on standing Oficer ot the Deck and we were the only Enlisted underway watch Officer of the Deck and Junior Officer of the Deck team to drive a Destroyer Leader through the water that I have ever heard of. He was a gentle voiced, gentleman with a clever sense of humor. God...

Howard was my friend and Ship Mate on USS Wilkinson DL5, Howard will be remembered in my prayers,as well as his family that he was so proud of.. Thank you Howard for your outstanding service to our great nation......God be with you !!
