A good Friend we worked together for many yearsA Pioneer in FM Broadcasting!

I had the special privilege to have worked for Howard at both KSHE in St. Louis, & KMEL in San Francisco. Howard Grafman was a legend in his own time, and I am forever grateful for all of the support & opportunity that Howard gave me in my earliest radio career. May he rest in peace forever.

Howard was an amazing man! I'll never forget the time when he came in to St.Louis to check on things at KSHE, I believe it was 1969 and he saw me trying to reload by hand a tape cartridge with new tape and a week later he surprised me with a real tape re-winder. I still have it today! He will be missed!
God Bless You Howard....

My first job in radio was at WLOO, Century Broadcasting's station in Chicago. I was a green, inexperienced account executive and after writing my first order, Howard personally came over, shook my hand and offered his congratulations. How many owners of a major broadcasting group would do that today? I always remembered that. Mr. Grafman was truly a class act.

Howard Grafman was my closest friend and business partner for nearly 25 years. We pioneered FM radio across the country, operated major market stations, successfully published a unique 13 volume encyclopedia of motion pictures, and produced various cable TV programs and sports including the Major League Baseball Challenge on ESPN with Donny Osmond. Howard never sought personal headlines but his broadcast employees respected him and his devoted wife, Paulette, like good friends you could always...

Howard hired me in November 1968 after I left WLS-FM. We worked together for 18 years at WFMF-WLOO(FM 100)now WSHE. Howard & his Partner
George Collias formed the 1st independent FM Radio group with stations in Chicago-St.Louis-Detroit-Dallas-Los Angeles & San Francisco. He maintain an office in the Hancock Center up 3 years ago. He was a good man who was ahead of his time in promoting the growth of FM Radio.

A great pioneer in FM radio, and will be missed by the entire broadcasting industry.
