Dear Hanson Family: Thank you for being part of my and my family's life the last 15 years. I loved Howie like a Grandpa and enjoyed the regular banter at the restaurant. Thank you for the invitation to the funeral and the opportunity to spend such a beautiful afternoon with the family. Although I knew it already, I was reminded what a wonderful person Howie is and his passing, although sad, is an invitation to keep that light for life alive in all of us. Thank you Howie and Pearle for sharing that light with me.

Dear Pearl & family, We are sorry to read about Howie's passing. We always talked to him at the ball park & when we had to attend a funeral at Trinity. He was a great man. Blessings & love to you.

Thank you Howie for the day you and Alex walk thru that door and asked me if I would like a job in the elevator trade. Your kindness is appreciated in allowing me to visit local 19 and bug you two or three days of the week with my expectation of becoming a union brother. After a couple of months of you seeing me in your office, you did get me to work and a long 30 year career as an elevator constructor. You always took time out to talk to me or allowed me to wait in your office until had time to converse with me. You truly made a difference in my life

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, you will be missed

My condolences to the Hanson family. We have lost a true Norwegian – one who knows all the jokes in the book, can fix elevators, a staunch Lutheran, can make rings out of dollar bills and has a passion for the Mariners (why, we are not too sure). Howie will be truly missed. His kindness, unselfishness and commitment to the Lord's work will be a hard act to follow. Lord, you will now have your hands full with Howie – but you will enjoy every minute of his presence.

Pearl, we are so sorry to hear of Howie's passing. He was one of the first people I met when entering the elevator trade. He made a great impression on me that has been passed on to my sons, who also have known him since they were just young boys. The world and the trade have lost a gem. We will miss him.

Oh, how I remember Howie Hanson. He was a good friend of my brother, Bob Brustad. I remember during WWII, I was about 13, he'd come to our house in Ballard to visit Bob.......oh, how handsome I thought he was & in the Air Force too! I had to write here, as I have no one else to share my thoughts with re Howie, the rest of my family has since passed away. I often wondered how & where Howie Hanson was...........

Howie was a great guy who always lit up the neighborhood. We have never had a better neighbor. He provided many light moments at times that our family needed it. He was a man who supported you in any way that he could. We have many fond memories of Howie and will cherish them the rest of our lives. Pearl, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
