a life well lived with honor, charity, humor and concern for all.

I first came to know Howard in April of 2002 when I joined the Cascade Natural Gas Board that we both continued to serve on for several more years before it's eventual sale to MDU Resources in 2007. Howard was a very thoughful/smart, complimentary, kind and supportive gentleman with emphasis on the gentleman quality. I am honored to have known and worked with Howard if only for a brief 5 years... he will be missed by many!

I was impressed with the love that he showed with his immediate family and extended family. I remember the interaction with my mother and father. Whenever we would meet with Loujauan and Howard I knew it would be a positive experience. I remember the financial help for my brother David and I in our younger years with various odd jobs.

Some 26 years ago, I was Howard's partner in a local golf event. He was taken with my story that I was getting married the following week -- to a former classmate I'd re-met during the 20th high school reunion. Out of nowhere, he offered his Hawaiian condo for our honeymoon -- no strings attached. That random act of kindness was remembered on our 25th anniversary last summer. RIP, Howard. And thanks.

Howard was the best uncle and great uncle! He was always so much fun and full of love! We will miss him dearly! Skip, Kathy, Justin, Kaylee and William

Howard was a great boss and a wonderfull friend. When we worked together at Washington Federal, he was always kind and supportive of me. We also spent a lot of time on the Oregon rivers fishing for salmon and steelhead. He was with me the day I caught a 24 pound steelhead on the Lewis river. When I left to become President of Westmark, Howard helped me with referrals to other Financial institutions and saw to it that Washington Federal was one of our first accounts.

I have very fond memories of Howard as a boss and a friend while at Washington Federal and after. He has continued to serve as a role model for me as I progress through the banking industry. Thank you Howard! You will be missed by many. Our thoughts are with Lou Juan and family.
