Howard was and will always be my friend. I met him at Project Strive in 1979, then worked with him at the Vet Center for 15 years. He and his family continue to have an energizing impact upon us all, with their love for life, and Howard was best man at my wedding. He will always be the Best, man!!!!

Howard was a wonderful man. When I took a job at the Albany Vet Center, I was very fortunate that Howard also worked there. Howard kindly took it upon himself to teach me my job. He taught me about the Vet Center, the Albany culture, and the veterans we served. As I got to know Howard, I came to appreciate his dedication to veterans, the Vet Center, the community, his family, and to me. I could always depend on Howard having my back whenever I needed him.
Howard was the best...

Dear Mary-Lynne and family, I am so sorry and saddened by the loss of your beloved Howard and father. Howard always always a pleasure to be around. I will never forget my many conversations about world issues with Howard or nicknaming him "ho-jo".
With much love and respect,
Melissa (Dr. Z)

Dear Marylynne, Julia and family. We are so sorry to learn of Howard's passing. His obituary captured a loving, vibrant man and your many happy memories are sure to bring you comfort. We'll keep you all in our prayers. Cathy O'Neill and Chuck Boisseau and family.

My sympathies to Howard's family. My father, a WW II vet and now deceased, was chaplain at the VA hospital for 18 years and knew Howard years ago. He spoke highly of him and we would always greet him on our street! May the Lord comfort you all.
Your neighbor at #21

Our deepest sympathies from the Newcomb family. Howard's was a life well lived and is the best memory any of us could hope to leave.

To Howard's family and friends I am very sorry for our loss As Marylynne so aptly put Howard's life though short was very full. I have many memories of Howard and proud to have served alongside of him at the Albany Vet Center. We worked together for many years. When I think of him I see a fair, even keeled respectful and thoughtful man. Howard could seize the moment wherever we went. As we did many times we escorted vets to the Vietnam memorial wall. All of a sudden in a mass of people I see...
