Not sure what to say?

Dear family members,
I had the great honor of conversing with Howard in the early 2000s. We’d discovered our Dillard connection.
I read his article on Westward Ho! Dillards. Love love love it!
I am the Great Great Great Granddaughter of Samuel Dillard, GG granddaughter of George Dillard, G granddaughter of Daisy Dillard (Patterson), Granddaughter of Kenneth Dillard Patterson Sr, and my father was Kenneth Dillard Patterson Jr.
I enjoyed our conversations very much and...

Dear Catherine and family, Please accept our sympathy for the loss of your father. He was outstanding in so many ways. He was both wise and witty and his lectures were very interesting. I felt he truly cared about his students. In later years he became a friend to me and my husband. He and your mother were truly delightful, talented people. The...

To Howard's family, I met Howard at the UNI Faculty Senate table in fall 1973. He was elected Senate Chair that day; and I became Vice Chair. Further, having the good fortune to become a member of the UNI-Civic Association Board from 1989 to 1993, I listened to the marvelous stories Howard would share about his...
