Howard Kinsey Obituary

Howard Otto Kinsey passed away March 11, 2008 after a short illness. He was born in Cisco, Texas on August 18, 1923 to J.D. and Gertrude (Brundrett) Kinsey - preceded in death by both his mother and father. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during WWII and attended Wayne State University as part of the cadet training school. He worked as Safety and Personnel Director for Jess Edwards, Inc., Goldston Construction Co., and Coastal Iron Works, where he retired in 1986. He belonged to the Coast Bend Personnel Association, the Propeller Club, Oilfield Haulers Association and served as president of these organizations at some point during his membership in each. A member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1953, he served in numerous leadership positions including Lay Delegate to Annual Conference, Chairman of the Administrative Board, and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He also had a phone call ministry he called "Hello from Howard" for those in his church who were homebound or ill. He was a member of Independence Masonic lodge Declaration of Independence # 1337 and a 32nd degree Mason in the Valley of San Antonio. Howard loved the Lord and attended Emmaus Walk #216 in the Coastal Bend Emmaus Community. In recent years Howard knitted the majority of the lanyards and watches for the Walk to Emmaus. Survived by his wife of almost 60 years: Wilbern Terry Kinsey; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Howard and Deborah Kinsey; daughter Miriam Kay Dominguez; brother and sister-in-law J.D. and Jane Kinsey; sister Jacqueline Berryhill; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joy and Rex Lewis; grandsons Colin and Cade Kinsey and Christopher Dominguez; and "adopted" granddaughter Heather Dixon; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Memorial Fund at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3915 Gollihar, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Cage-Mills Funeral Home, 4901 Everhart, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. Funeral will be Friday, March 14, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church with interment following at Memory Gardens, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
