Howard Ripley McPeck Jr.

I still think of Sandy. As an 8th grader I had a crush on him particularly as he favored art and in the basement of the M.V. He demonstrated using tissue paper in collage work which I found fascinating. He had an agile and educated mind which I appreciated then and now. "Captain, Oh Captain" was a cry I associate with Sandy and a society now gone array.

Echoing Amanda Ford's comments, I have vivid and fond memories of Sandy. Not only was he my teacher and soccer coach at MVCDS, but we shared the same alma mater, Williams College. I even saw Sandy there once because we were on the same reunion cycle. I like to think we learned the same values at Williams and MVCDS that somehow can save the world.

As I said, Mr. McPeck was a unique favorite of mine in high school and long afterwards. He was artful, conscientious,
a friend to many, funny and with a good mind. Glad to have a reminder of those gone before us. May he have a twinkle looking down at us. Mandy Ford

Mr. McPeck was a wonderful English teacher. I will always remember how he made Shakespeare wonderful and exciting. My deepest sympathy to his family.

A precious, wonderful light has gone out. I will never forget this dear man. Sarah, my prayers are for all of you.

As my English teacher in 7th grade Sandy was a favorite. He also taught Art class and conveyed Art was also for men with an eye for beauty and visual appeal. His laugh was infectious and I wrote my best for his assignments. He gave his all to MV and his influenced stayed with me a long time. "O Captain! My Captain" - he was a romantic at heart.

To the McPeck family, please accept my condolences. Mr. McPeck you were a wonderful teacher, coach and friend. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Thank you for all you have taught us.
