I had the great privilege to serve under Lt. Col. Howard Pierson, USAF, in the 1970s at Shaw AFB where he commanded the 507 TACC Sq. Howard stood head and shoulders, literally and figuratively, above the men there. He was pilot's pilot, a man's man, and a devout Christian. Howie Pierson was an outstanding individual. I first met Howie about 15 years ago. He and I spoke at a lot of Christian groups. He was a devout Christian. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the Death of His saints (Psalms 116:15).

Very sorry to hear of Howie's passing. What a friendly and open personality this man had. Only knew his as a CRM instructor at AAL but he WAS memorable and he remembered everyone's names...very impressive. Wish'd I'd known his military background because I went to pilot trn at Craig AFB and worked with the 'Nail' FACs in VNam. God loves you, Howie.
