SHELBY - Mr. Howard A. Rollins Sr., 93, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John U. Rollins and Mittie Hamrick Rollins. Howard spent 18 years in management at Cleveland Cloth Mill before going on to become an executive at Dover Textile Mills for more than 30 years. He was a very active member of First Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and an usher. Mr. Rollins was very active in civic organizations, the Shelby Lions Club, Cleveland Country Club, and the United Way of Cleveland County. Mr. Rollins enjoyed playing golf, traveling with his friends and family. He had a very loving relation-ship with his family.
In addition to his parents, John and Mittie Hamrick Rollins, his wife, June Blanton Rollins and sister, Iris Rollins McKeithan preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Howard A. Rollins Jr. and wife, Maureen, of Atlanta; daughter, Ann Rollins Elder and hus-band, Mike, of Rock Hill, S.C., grandchildren, Doug Rollins and fiancée, Mandy Rasmussen, Todd Rollins and wife, Shirley, Juliann Mitchell and fiancé, Ted Sethness, and Josh Mitchell; and great–grandchildren, Ashton and Parker Rollins
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the church in the ladies parlor one hour before the service.
Funeral: Saturday, Sept. 13, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Webb Chapel
Burial: Sunset Cemetery
