Howard Thomas, Sr. entered into eternal rest at his residence on Friday, March 29, 2013. Husband by first marriage of the late Mary Louise Haynes Thomas and by second marriage of the late Rosie Marie Thomas. Father of Lisa Thomas (Fredrick Grimes) of Baton Rouge, LA, Howard Thomas, Jr. of Caynon County, CA, Terry Mars of Prichard AL, Myrna Thomas of New Orleans, LA, Kim T. Aubert (Darren Sr.) of New Orleans, LA and the late Charlene Singh. Son of the late Walter Thomas and Lizzie Anderson Thomas. Brother of Guy and Sam Thomas, the late Howard Jr., Senior, Jessie, Eva Mae, Irene, Isaac, Willie, Elouise and Ella Mae Thomas. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 82 years. A native of Maringouin, LA and resident of Avondale, LA. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, a CPL and veteran of the U.S. Army and retired Weight Master with Swift Independent Packing Co.
Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Second Saint John Baptist Church and all neighboring churches and Heart of Hospice are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Second Saint John Baptist Church, 242 Avondale Garden Rd., Avondale, LA on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the church. Interment: Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA.
