Not sure what to say?

Dear Barb and family,

How we loved that guy....and you! This is a great photo, and we're so glad to read all about Howard. Just wish it weren't an obituary. It's hard to believe. I'm so sorry we were out of town for the service. I wish we'd known him longer and better, but thank goodness for the SF church and especially, VanderKamp. We send our deepest sympathy. 60 years of marriage... and I bet they flew by.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Barb,
Howard was my first employer in the newspaper business and I couldn't have had a better boss. He was very patient and kind to me and I'll never forget that experience. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

Dear Barb and family Sorry for your loss. The picture of Howard was perfect. When I think of him he always had a smile and a camer in his hand or close by.He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Bill Sullivan

Dear Barb and family. My most profound sympathies. But as I look back on the mere 20 years that I knew Howard, I find myself not crying, but smiling, not because of his death, but because of his life. I loved his writing, his choir voice, his love of humanity and family, his sneak trips onto our porch for a bourbon during the Pageant of Bands and his moustache... I share your pain in the loss of this iconic and amazing man, husband and father, he will simply never be forgotten...

My thoughts and prayers are with the VanKirk family.
I met Howard in 1976 when I performed in my first SCP production.
I also delivered The Reveille in my neighborhood in Waterloo.
He was a man that was respected and he will be missed.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Barb and family,
So very sorry for your loss. Howard was a wonderful friend and mentor. Am so glad that I had an opportunity to catch up with him a few summers ago. Keeping all of you in my prayers.

Steve & Lori,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your Dad's imprint will stay on Seneca Falls through his many good works and caring concern for his community.

To the Van Kirk family-may all of your good memories help you through this difficult time. Thinking of you.
