Howard and Merna would have been 85 years old this year. In fact, today is Merna´s birthday. They were extraordinary people, and I considered them terrific friends. I miss them so much, but I have wonderful memories of them. I consider myself lucky that we were friends.

The Wechsler Family,

I was a junior enlisted man with the 7th Surgical Hospital in Vietnam during the time Dr. Wechsler was also in the unit. During those years in the Army there was little inter-action between junior enlisted and officers, especially the non-medical enlisted. However, Dr. Wechsler was the exception. He always had a kind word for us. While reading his obituary it sounded like he never changed; always a bit on kindness for everyone. He will be missed.

Dear Merna and Jim,
I served as an OR Nurse with Howard at the 7th Surgical Hospital at Cu Chi, Viet Nam. It was my first assignment after completing the OR course for Nurses at Letterman in San Franscio. Howard was so wonderful to work with. He never critized my inexperience but helped me learn how best to help patients.
He loved his family so much and you only knew him a short time before you also knew that. You Merna and Jim were his main topics of conversation. He played...

Dear Merna and family,
I served in Vietnam with Dr Howard Wechsler at the 7th Surgical Hospital at Cu Chi, Vietnam and Blackhorse, Vietnam. We had many great surgeons, but great surgeons depend on great anesthesiologist. Dr Wechsler was just the best. He went from patient to patient giving everyone his best. He was a gentle man. He was a kind man. Dear Merna,
Bobbie and I were so saddened to hear of Howard's passing. He was a fine anesrthesiologist and a very nice man. I wish he had stayed with us at Highland park Hospital longer. I'm sure he will be much missed.
