Howard Weinert
East Andover, NH - Howard L. Weinert, Jr., 90, passed away November 29, 2023 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home after a period of failing health.
Howie was born on February 17, 1933 in Freeport, NY, son of Howard L. Weinert, Sr. and Florence (Rottjer) Weinert.
He spent the first thirty-three years of his life on the waterways and beaches of the South Shore of Long Island. As a youngster, he spent time with his grandfather, Herman Rottjer, raising chickens and in the garden. After vacationing and hunting in New Hampshire for a number of years, Howie moved his family to East Andover where he continued his love of farming, gardening and hunting. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and spent many game days in Foxboro.
Howie was active in his community. He was involved with the Andover Fire Department, the town's Fourth of July parade and midway, the Andover Congregational Church and the Franklin Lodge of Elks. Howie served many for many years as an independent insurance agent and retired from the insurance industry having been a partner at the A.W. Frost Agency in Franklin, NH.
Howie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Crandall); children, Howard Weinert, III, Gerald Weinert, Lawrence Weinert and his wife Carrie, Jane Nolin and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole, Jennifer, Patrick, Stephanie, Nicholas, Amy; sister, Marie Steier; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Howie was predeceased by his first wife Ethel (Herzog) and his brother H. Russell Weinert.
There will be a small service at a later date.
