Not sure what to say?

Our family had a wonderful time with him in Cleveland over the last few years. He made many new friends and was always one to help. He volunteered at the Bay Village Historical Society on weekends and was generous with his time visiting neighbors and friends who needed a companion. Howard loved sharing his daughters accomplishments and Caroline's artwork with friends. He was as proud father and a good friend and brother. We will miss you. God Bless. Darby, Tom, Joey, Luca & Bennett

Dear Elizabeth, Caroline, Malcolm, Marsha & Gail: I knew Howie from 1977 when we started at Tulane. Eventually, he became "Howard" the financial executive! But always he maintained that humor, and personal connection we all loved in him. Like me, a Yankee he adapted well to the Southern culture. Our last time together, at Reunion 2014, he had to show us a special muffaletta at a dive deli on Magazine Street. He began his final chapter, at home, in Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Every phone call...

I send my sincere condolences to Howie´s family and loved ones on his passing. My brother sent me his obituary from the Valley Independent. I knew Howie from Monessen when we were children at Sunday School, Hebrew School and Vocational elementary school (although we were in different classes, I think....many kids...baby boomers!) I went away to high school so we were not in touch until Facebook arrived on the scene. I enjoyed his humorous postings, his politics and his expressions of human...

Growing up across the street from each other, Howie was my best friend´s brother and my brother´s best friend. Howie was always amenable, friendly, and fun. I am grateful to have known Howie and his whole family.

Howie and his family have been longtime friends of the Schrag and Stern families. I loved Howie´s subtle sense of humor and side grin. He took pride in his Monessen connection and was a forever fan of the Monessen Greyhounds. We are so sad to hear of his passing. So many people were touched by his warmth and genuine kindness. We are sending our love and support to the Weiss family. Lori Schrag Vivio

So sorry to hear about this. I too was part of that class at Vocational and part of the group with Jeff, Jeff, and Howie though I was the first to leave after 5th grade. Years later, I reconnected with Howie and the rest. Howie had an amazing memory for things about me from all those years ago---after all, I was 10 when I moved away. He reminded me of things I had long since forgotten--and was a never-ending source of Pittsbugh sports trivia which I always appreciated. Rest in peace my...

To Howard's family, very sorry for your loss, he was one of a kind and will be missed by everyone. May he rest in peace.

I knew this was coming, but it took all night for my shock to wear off. Howie and I were in somewhat regular contact over the past several years, and when he did not return my emails or calls this summer, I realized something was wrong. Howie, Jeff Stern and I were the three Jewish kids in our class, and that made us into a close-knit little circle. I loved these other guys, and we grew to depend that the others had our back. Howie had a wicked sense of humor, which grew more clever over...

RIP my good friend since grade school at Voc.
