Howard Leslie Wright, 100, of Fordham Drive, Norton; died on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home in Norton where he and his wife of 77 years have resided for the past four years. He was the husband of Eleanor M. (Madison) Wright to whom he was married on August 10, 1930.
Born in Plainview, New York on October 30, 1907, he was a son of the late George and Clara Dorothea (Finger) Wright.
He resided in Centerport, New York for 65 years prior to relocating to Massachusetts in 1995 and settling in Taunton where he resided until moving to Norton four years ago.
An electrician by trade until his retirement in 1970, Mr. Wright was a charter member of Local Union #25 in New York since 1925.
While living in New York, he was a member for more than 50 years of the Centerport Volunteer Fire Department where he served as an active fundraiser.
Mr. Wright was a member of the Centerport Methodist Church and was a member of the Jephtha Lodge #494 Order of the Free Masons in Huntington Station, New York for 63 years.
Mr. Wright along with his beloved wife traveled extensively in their motor home and when he was 70 years old he and his wife traveled to Europe where they toured the continent for six months. They often enjoyed visiting yard sales.
In addition to his wife of 77 years, he leaves a granddaughter: Leslie A. Driscoll and her husband, Michael J. Driscoll, of Norton; two great grandchildren: Rebecca Driscoll and Danielle Driscoll both of Norton; a niece: Carolyn (Cooper) Silagy and her husband, Dr. Zsolt Silagy, of Briarcliff Manor, New York and cousins.
He was the father of the late Joan M. (Wright) Stimpson who died in 1977 and was the brother of the late Everett Wright.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Funeral services and burial in Bethpage, New York will be private.
