Not sure what to say?

Dear Mimi,
I just heard yesterday about Howell's passing away.
I really miss seeing Howell and you down here in Captiva, Florida.
Howell was wonderful to include me in his luncheon group on Fridays at the Yacht Club soon after Sally and I bought our current house nine years ago near your old one here in Captiva.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and you both loved dogs like we do. I loved it when I started finding my beach shoes moved around down in the sand near...

Aunt Mimi,
I suspect I never had the chance to say many of the things I would have like to say years ago. Both you and Uncle Howell did many things to fill a gap in my childhood, including a father figure on many occasions. From fishing trips to working at Hines to dealing with me when we got in trouble in Winnetka, all of these experiences were important to my childhood.
Besides being family, all of your children treated me and my sisters as direct family and we'll never forget...

Dear Mrs. Howard,
My son John, and your son Hal, have been friends since their days at New Trier. We have had the pleasure of knowing Hal since then. We are very grateful to him for the help he gave us while he was at the Vatican Embassy and we were researching John's family in Italy. He was able to put us in touch with many people who were able to provide us with important information.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Brigs and John Maselli

Howell was like my second father. The father I never had in business - the career area I eventually chose. Howell, Mimi, and the entire Howard clan always treated me like family year after year, on trip after trip. His son, Mark, and I were inseparable, meeting in the second grade and remain best friends today. Howell fondly gave me the nickname "Bad Brad" in recognition of all the pranks I would enjoy would playing either at the ranch or at Captiva. Somehow that nickname has followed me...

One of my favorite friend's parents. I feel so blessed to have known him and the whole Howard family. The kids are all a direct reflection of their wonderful parents. While I remember with fondness all of the great memories, I truly cherish their friendship and love that has lasted through the years and distance. Brian Snediker

Dear Hal, Friends aren't just for the fun times. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May happy memories and the support of all who care about you bring comfort at this time of transition. Your friend, Patti

Hal, your Dad was remarkable with wonderfully diverse interests and accomplishments (like you, and including you!) My deepest condolences to you and your family.

My brother, John Maselli, has been a close friend of Howell's son Hal since high school. While I did not know Howell myself, I have known Hal for over 40 years. He is a wonderful example of the kind of parent Howell must have been. My deepest condolences and prayers for the entire Howard family.

We have been profoundly touched by Howell and his family.
He was the very best sort of neighbor and a fine example of an exemplary father. Our memories of those years will always be dear to us. Jeannie and Ed james
