MATHEWS Hubert Matt Mathews, 73, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 in Ocala, Florida after a battle with cancer. He was born November 23, 1939 in Genoa, Florida to Essie Carter Mathews and Wilmer Mathews. Matt retired in 1976 from the U.S. Navy as CWO3. He was in EOD and a Gunner's Mate....

Daddy I miss you so much. Nine years have gone by and the pain is still as fresh today as it was then. I know that you ,Michael and Buddy are together and I love and miss you all so much. Until then, save me a place at the table. Forever your baby girl!

Sorry. I was in ordance on kitty hawk. And worked with a EOD. Glad Matt serviced our country.. Was he layed to rest in jachsonvillie or bushnell. Im from Inverness. Thanks for his service. May GOD bless his family.

Sorry for your loss, and we are praying for the family. I first served with Matt when he was on the Rival and I was stationed on the Notable. He was a good friend and a shipmate. May you have calm seas and smooth sailing, until we meet in Heaven. God Bless.

I never got to know Matt, I feel that I lost a great deal by not doing so. Perhaps in a later life.To an MSO Brother and his Family " God Bless".
