Not sure what to say?

Just found this sad obituary--I remember Dr Ayer quite well when I was a graduate student in History at North Texas State from September of 1966 to August of 1968,at which time I received my MA degree in History.

Dear Libby, Margaret and David,
What a joy your father was! Energetic teacher, devoted father, dedicated vocalist in the church choir. Your father was a great man and a wonderful family friend! He will be missed!

I was saddened to learn of the passing of this gentle man, who was my neighbor, friend, colleague, and mentor. Libby, Margaret. and David, I hope you can take some comfort from the fact that Hugh's life was not only long but also well-lived.

Libby, Margaret & David,
Hugh was an inspiration to me, a true Southern Gentleman and a "Statesman" who placed others before himself. I will cherish the many memories forever.

My sincere condolences to your family. Your dad was an awesome man. I remember him fondly and Mrs. Ayer.

Our condolences to aunt Libby, Margaret and David.

Kay and Jerry Gaidmore.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Our deepest sympathies to Libby, Margaret and David. He was a great Uncle. We will miss him. Best wishes to all of you.

Bill, Pam and Heather Ayer
