Not sure what to say?

Raven,

I'm saddened to learn of Thorne's passing. Though I haven't had contact with him in many years, I remember him well from my time at USC. You have my sincerest condolences.

Jim Williams

To the family-I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t really know him but he sounded like a kind, caring, intelligent person. Sending prayers of peace, stillness and comfort during the times when you need it the most.

Thorne was one of a kind: wise, well-read, friendly, and fun. And yet he got things, many very good things, done within the university and community. I sought him out on several occasions for advice. His counsel was always thoughtful, informed, and supportive. We will all miss him.

I was already in my fifties when Thorne stepped up to sponsor--and mentor--my efforts to create a research center. He was very gentle, very genuine, and clearly well-respected by the administrators to whom he introduced me. Colleagues just don't come any better.

Raven - we are so very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Thorne. I was a graduate student at USC's Department of Theatre, Speech & Dance & worked in the department office for him. He was always so caring and willing to listen to any questions I had. May he rest in eternal peace and may his memory live on. You all are in my thoughts & prayers.

A lovely obituary - I worked for Dr. Compton in graduate school and he was a great man...forgiving my mistakes every time.

I was a lecturer at the art department while Thorne served as chair. I thought the world of him and am so sorry for our loss. May his memory be eternal.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
