Not sure what to say?

My deep and sincere sympathy to the Crean family. I was saddened to hear of Father Hugh's passing. My family and I will remember his warm, kind and generous spirit and ready smile. He always had time to celebrate with his family in the Berkshires. May the memories of happy times together comfort you.

My condolences to Hugh's family and brother priests of the diocese of Springfield. I was privileged to have him as my spiritual director at the American College of Louvain from 1970-72. He was a great model and guide. I owe many of my blessings of priestly ministry for the diocese of Providence and now Fresno, California, to his wisdom and example. Requiescat in pace.

My sincere condolences to the Crean family. I just heard of Fr Hugh's passing and am sorry to have missed the services. He was a remarkable man with a truly kind and gentle spirit. Jim admired him dearly and often spoke of fond childhood memories. Fr Hugh performed our son's wedding and the homily he gave touched so many hearts. With heartfelt thoughts.

A true blessing to all. And as the Irish say " We will never see the likes of him again". Truly one of a kind who made the world a better place because of his presence. Thank you Fr.Hugh for sharing all of your goodness with us. Please remember us to God.

I met Fr. Hugh at Providence Place where he left a measurable mark on all of us. With his gentle ways and bright smile, you felt you were in the presence of a man of God. A quote on the last page of Fr. Hugh's dissertation on Tillich says " We thank Thee when we look back at our life, be it long or short, for all that we have met in it. And we thank Thee not only for what we have loved and for what gave us pleasure, but also for what brought us disappointment, pain and suffering, because we...

To the Crean family,
My parents, Jane and Jack Lyons, are very saddened by the passing of Father Hugh. To use my father's words, "He was a true friend".
Please accept my family's condolences and know that the entire Crean family is in our thoughts and prayers.
Michael John Lyons

To Fr. Crean's family,
I am sorry for your loss.
I met Fr. Crean at Sacred Heart.
His homilies were beautiful, intelligent
and profound.
May he rest in Peace.

Dear Pat, Joe and Fr.Hugh's Family,
Being in Hugh's presence was like being in presence of God...truly human and divine at the same time. He is now with the God he so loved and served his entire life. "Perhaps they are not stars, but the souls of loved ones shining down upon us..." May his light shine upon all of you who were so fortunate to be called family...Blessings,

In remembrance of Rev. Hugh Crean

When The Lord said love one another...you loved well.

When The Lord said let the children come...you showed them the way.

When The Lord said to forgive...you did seventy times seven.

When The Lord said let your light shine before men...you shined brighter than most.

When The Lord said to remain in Him...you steadfastly remained.

When The Lord told you not to judge...you did not...
