Not sure what to say?

Life is so strangely serendipitous sometimes! I just happened to be at dinner with friends last week talking about rafting rapids, and saying how much better it is to shoot rapids in a canoe. I told them of my fabulous high school science teacher Mr. Gibson and the wonderful canoe trip he organized that I went on. Then thought to myself, 'wonder what happened to Mr. Gibson, whether he's still around'...one week later a high school friend facebooked me...which led to the AYJ reunion...

Mr. Gibson was my grade 13 Biology teacher at Bell High School and he inspired me to become the scientist he knew I could become. I so much hoped to see him at the 50th reunion in 2012 to thank him for getting me to believe in myself.

Mr. Gibson was an amazing teacher both in the classroom and on "Outers Club" trips. He was one of the most influential people in my life.
God bless you Hugh Gibson

Mr. Gibson was a fabulous teacher - I will never forget him. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mr. Gibson was an incredible teacher who impacted all of our lives. Our sympathies to his family

As a former reporter of News at AYJ, I often had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Gibson about the events of his exciting science classes and his many Outers Trips. My four children, as they progressed through AYJ, were privileged to have had him as their teacher or Outers Trip mentor. They learned much from this positive thinking and caring man, and he will not be forgotten. Our deepest sympathy to all of the family.
Sincerely,
Pauline Cherry (formerly Pauline Fisher)

I knew we were in for a good Biology class when "Gibby's" eyes were dancing before he spoke his first word. His was a life well-lived, as evidenced by the many former students who have taken time to fondly remember him, his animated teaching style and Outer's Club contributions. With sincere condolences from all the "Fisher Kids".

I was a student at A.Y. from 1983-1987. Mr. Gibson was hands down my favourite teacher. I learned so much from him because he made learning interesting. I do have to say because of his Biology class it lead me on my career path in health information science. I also enjoyed being a member of the Outer's Club for 3 years and going on many trips with Mr. Gibson. My sincere condolences go to the Gibson family for their loss.

Mr. Gibson, thank you for the memories, the teachings of life and the great times and laughs in class. Prayers of comfort and peace extend to his family and friends. Thank you Mr. Gibson, you will be greatly missed.
