Dear Jean,
I remember you as Miss Linton. My name is Vivian Risner, Marlette. Mr. Heiland was always my favorite teacher. He taught us so much more than what was in the books. He taught us to be congenial, have patience, how to study, and how to enjoy our times in the class room while learning. Mr. Heiland, as he was known to me at West Elkton, was a stickler for sentence diagramming. Although I haven't diagrammed a sentence In many years I've always appreciated his insisting that we learn to think out many other problems from learning this. He was also an inspiration to me while I attended Miami U. Its rather odd that he was only ten years older than me. In 1940 It seemed that he was much older. but now the difference in age seems very small. I'm sure he will be missed by many...
