Not sure what to say?

What a great man, good friend to my late father.

Deacon was a great friend, manager, and cohort. He always had time for me or anyone who was seeking his guidance. Deacon was honest, dependable and generous with his time and life lessons. He helped me through a difficult time and I’m forever grateful. Deacon took time to visit me after knee replacement surgery and seeing him after years apart was as if we’d never been apart. He was the same man, bigger than life, every day of his life. So many great memories! My life was richer for...

Thank you all so much for your precious responses! Memorial service will be Feb.20th, 3pm at First Baptist Trussville, and will also be live-streamed at fbctrussville.org

There are no words to say what Deacon meant to me. He was my first boss but more than that, he was my mentor, a father figure, a great man. He and Nita are more special than I could ever say!!!

Prayers for Nita and family. May God comfort you as you mourn your great loss. Deacon was a wonderful and loyal friend and I have many sweet memories of times spent with he and Nita and others in the Kenny Morgan group.

We are sad to lose this wonderful gentleman who has greatly blessed our community. May God bless Nita and their children in their loss of one so dear. Our love and prayers.

Deacon was a good friend and golfing partner for many years. We connected quickly thru mutual friends from Greenville , Alabama. Was always fun to play golf with him and listen to his stories about sports. As an Auburn fan, I always felt I had a slight edge over him when his grandsons played there. That didn’t always work out however! He was loved and respected by all of our golfing members and will be greatly missed. Cathy’s and my sincere condolences to Nita and the family.

Deepest sympathies to Nita and all the Jones family and many friends. Deacon was a special person who shared his business acumen so unselfishly when he and Joe Griffin played pivotal roles in my then-developing career. I worked closely for and with Deacon for many years, and knew him to be honest to a fault, dependable, approachable, and most tolerant of the brash young upstart he hired in 1976. Deacon's knowledge, compassion, and understanding have remained with me all these many years....
