THIS NEXT TUESDAY, JULY 21 IS MONSIGNOR'S BIRTHDATE. THEY FINALLY HAVE HIS HEADSTONE AT HIS SITE. I AM GOING TO PUT PVC PIPE IN THE GROUND ON EACH SIDE OF HIS HEADSTONE TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO HAVE A PLACE TO PUT ARTIFICIAL AND REAL FLOWERS AT HIS GRAVE.

WENT OUT TO GRAVESITE YESTERDAY AND NOTICED THAT THEY HAD LAID SOD OVER HIS SITE BUT THE SOD WAS VERY DRY SO I WENT OUT TODAY TO GIVE IT A GOOD WATERING. THEY HAVE A SPOT TO PLACE HEADSTONE BUT NOT DONE YET. SHOULD BE SOON. THERE WAS A CROSS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE SO I MOVED IT TO BE RESTING NEAR MSGR HEADSTONE WHEN PLACED. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANYONE WHO IS AT CHRIST THE KING OR ANY OF THE CHURCHES SERVED BY MSGR OVER NEAR THE WIREGRASS AREA PLEASE LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS SITE. I...

Father Maguire was one of the nicest men I have ever met. My husband and I met him when my son and daughter-in-law had their marriage blessed, and he made us feel like we belonged at St John the Baptist in Grand Bay.He will be missed all around the Grand Bay area. He was loved and we know he is in heaven, Matilda and Claude Wynant of Grand Bay,Al

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Reverend Msgr. Hugh Maguire's family and friends. He was a truly unique man. He touched our lives in so many ways. When we first came to this Church, (St. John the Baptist), he welcomed us in with open arms. He baptized Lee and Blessed our Marriage in the Rectory Chapel. Later I became his secretary, cook, housekeeper and friend. He was my mentor. I truly miss him and forever will. I am sure that anyone who knew him would say his humor and his wit (he did not...

My only sorrow is that I didn't know Monsignor longer than I did and I am certainly most blessed for knowing him and spending so much time with him. I have probably known him the least of anybody in this book and who was close to him and yet it was an honor each time I spent time with him. I also feel as though our Glorious Father allowed me to be with him on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Allen home. He was doing well it seemed and in good spirit and I was certainly blessed to be the one...

We were blessed to spend some time with Father Hugh on his last visit to Boston. We will sadly miss his keen sense of humor and dry wit. He always kept us up to date on the news from home. We send our sympathies to all of his family and friends. We share in your sorrow as we also share in your loss. We were blessed to have him in our lives. We will remember you in our prayers.
