Hugh H. Prather I was born on Monday, December 21, 1942 and took my last breath on October 26, 2024 accompanied by my loving family. They gathered with me for a life review, and shared with me their reflections on a life I hope and believe was well lived. If you are reading this and know me, you...

Not sure what to say?

I was perusing my bookshelves today, and happened upon "Notes to Myself" - a 1970 copyright that I obtained in 1983 at the University of Waterloo. It has been with me since then, throughout hardships, happy times and happenstance. I realized, as I paged through the little volume with passages highlighted in neon yellow and lavender and my own notes scribbled in the welcome margins, how important this work has been to me for many years. So, I googled him. The first link that popped up was his...

He was an inspiration to all of us who worked with him. His goodness and wisdom was a blessing in our lives.

Hugh was instrumental in getting the Sunport to honor the memory of the lives lost on TWA Flight 260. 2-19-55. They converted the old TWA Ambassadors Club into a conference room. We had a dedication 20 years ago in that conference room to honor all the souls lost on the flight.

Prather Family, Hello, My name is Sandy Darnell. I just learned of Hugh's passing. I has taken aback by the news. My deepest condolences to the family. He was an amazing man. I had the pleasure of working with Hugh, as he did our consulting for Bernalillo Public schools Superintendents office. I will deeply miss his amazing, positive personality.

I first met Hugh when he was the superintendent and I was a young kindergarten teacher and new union leader in Los Lunas. Hugh was an inspirational leader who worked to find solutions to difficult problems, He was so supportive of me as a teacher and an NEA-Los Lunas leader. He was fair, sincerely cared about students and employees, and he made a difference in many lives. He will be missed! My thoughts are with his family during this time.

My husband, Chuck Sanicola, passed Oct. 15, 2024. He knew Hugh when they served in the US Navy. Chuck wondered what happened to him since we tried writing Hugh. Assumed he was not with us any longer. My niece, living in England, found this obituary. Ironic that Hugh passed nine days after Chuck. I hope they meet again in heaven. We were married 58 yrs. and live in Carson City, NV. God bless Kay and family.

My condolences to

RIP Hugh.

He was a positive influence upon my teaching career. I will never forgot his kindness he gave me and how he understood how to be a great administrator.
