Not sure what to say?

Mr. Rush was my Debate coach at Highland High School (1974-1976). I was an independent "long harried hippie," but Mr. Rush saw something in me that went far beyond what everyone else saw. He even purchased a suit coat for me at ZCMI to replace the dress army jacket I was competing in. I went on to become a Sterling Scholar Finalist in Speech and Drama in 1976. None of that would have been possible without Mr. Rush. Now, two Master's degrees and a professional career later, it is with the...

Hugh Rush, my English teacher and friend, went above and beyond to seek out and inspire students who really needed it. His friendliness, sincere interest in students' success and positive attitude are among my brightest memories of high school.

Thanks for everything!

Mr. Rush was my debate coach at Highland High School in 1964. My partner & I won the state championship under his tutelage. He was a fine debate coach.

I want to add my condolences to the family to those of my old debate partner, Tim Weiler. Although I gave Hugh Rush fits through bad behavior, his patience was appreciated. His classes were highlights of my high school time. I also worked with him some while he was in the Legislature and I was working to pass or kill a bill. Again his patience and gentle ways were appreciated. Not many men pass through their lives having touched so many for good.

My condolences to the family.may Almighty God give you comfort and peace.Psalms83:18

Hugh and I worked in the Stake together for many years and I thought highly of him and his family. Please accept our deep sympathy at this time. God bless you all

Hugh Rush built a debate program at Highland High that was the envy of the state. I will always remember Mr. Rush in his leisure suit (popular in my era) doing everything to get us ready for the big tournaments. He was an important mentor in my life, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to know him.

Hugh,
What a great person. You lived a live of love and kindness to others. Your wife, Sararh taught with me in Granger Elementary School. She was also the best of the best. The Rush family lived their beliefs 24 hours a day. Eternally grateful for their example.
